PAIN – WHY YOU SHOULDN’T AVOID IT!
When to avoid – It is sensible to avoid acute pain when you develop a new injury. This doesn’t mean do nothing, it just means that you keep active without irritating your pain!
When not to avoid! – At a certain stage, avoiding the pain becomes unhelpful. The initial benefit of avoiding pain is gone, instead avoiding pain is out of fear of causing damage. Unfortunately, the longer you avoid pain. The easier the pain can be triggered.
What to do instead – Instead of avoiding pain forever. Gradually expose your body to the movements it dislikes. And remember, flare ups don’t mean damage!
